Flodesk will be working with Stripe Express to issue 1099 tax documentation to qualifying US Flodesk customers who have received payments using Flodesk Checkout.

Key dates:

November 2024: You will receive an email from Stripe to verify your details. We strongly suggest opting into paperless delivery to ensure you receive your 1099 quickly.

Before end of the year: Review your tax information (e.g., name, address, and SSN or EIN) and make any necessary changes to keep information up-to-date. Please update your information no later than December 31, 2024.

Please note: If you don’t agree to paperless delivery by mid January 2025, we’ll automatically mail your 1099 tax form to the address on file, so it’s critical that your information is current, correct, and complete.

Before January 15th, 2025: Last day to opt-in to paperless delivery to receive your 1099 tax form electronically via Stripe Express.

On January 31st, 2025:

  • Your 1099 tax form will be available to download via Stripe Express if you have agreed to paperless delivery. Otherwise, it will be mailed to your address. Please allow up to 10 business days for mail delivery.

  • Stripe will file your 1099 tax form with the IRS and relevant state tax authorities.


What is a 1099-K tax form?

The 1099-K summarizes the sales activity of your account. It is provided to you and the IRS, as well as some US states for tax reporting purposes.

Will I be getting tax documentation?

For the 2024 tax year, the IRS has announced that the 1099-K filing threshold will apply when, in a calendar year, the gross amount of total gross volume exceeds $5,000 and there are 1 or more transactions.

Some US states apply a different filing threshold. For a full list of state requirements check this resource.

This means if you used Flodesk Checkout in 2024 and met the stated qualifiers, then you should expect to receive a 1099-K tax form from Stripe Express, Flodesk’s payment partner.

Do I have to file my 1099-K form?

No—Stripe will file on your behalf to the IRS and any applicable States.

Select How You’d Like to Receive Your 1099 Tax Form

You can select how you want to receive your 1099-K forms via physical mail or through e-delivery via Stripe Express.

E-delivery through Stripe (Paperless):

Yes, you must opt-in to paperless delivery to receive your 1099 tax form electronically via Stripe Express by January 15th, 2025. If you choose this option, Stripe will email you to let you know when your 1099 tax form is available as an electronic copy for download.

The Stripe Express Dashboard is where you can grant e-delivery consent, download the 1099 tax forms, and update your tax information.

If you don’t agree to paperless delivery, Stripe will mail you a paper copy of your 1099 tax form instead.

Paper Copy through Mail:

If you prefer a paper copy, all tax documents are mailed on or before January 31 to the business address on file with Flodesk. Please allow up to 10 business days for delivery.

Steps to Ensure Accurate 1099-K Information and Delivery

To make sure your 1099-K tax form has accurate information and reaches you on time, confirm that your details are correct and up-to-date in your Stripe Express account. This includes verifying information like your name, address, and Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).

I didn’t receive an email from Stripe notifying me about the 1099-K tax document—what should I do?

Please double check your spam or junk mail folder for an email with the subject line “Get your Flodesk 2024 tax forms faster by enabling e-delivery.” If you can’t find an email from Stripe, it’s possible that:

  • The email may be in your spam/junk mail folder. Please search your inbox for an email titled “Get your Flodesk 2024 tax forms faster by enabling e-delivery”.

  • Flodesk does not have your most current email address on file. Please check any other email addresses you may have used to sign up for Flodesk.

  • The email address associated with your Flodesk account is incorrect, missing, or unable to receive mail.

If you are still unable to receive your link, please reach out to Stripe Express support at https://support.stripe.com/express/contact/email.

When and where can I expect my 1099-K tax form?

Your 1099-K tax form will be ready on 31st of January. If you meet the filing thresholds above, Stripe will send you a link to access your 1099 tax form if you opted into paperless delivery. Otherwise, you can expect to receive a paper form via mail.

Why haven’t I received my 1099-K paper form in the mail?

Please allow up to 10 business days from the 31st Jan. If you still haven’t received it, please contact https://support.stripe.com/express/contact/email.

If your address was not up to date at the time that your forms were issued, you will need to reach out to support@flodesk.com to request an additional copy.

Note: If you did not consent to paperless delivery, you will not be able to download your 1099-K tax form through the Tax Forms tab of Stripe Express. You will only receive a copy of the 1099-K form mailed to the address on file.
