How do I edit the image preview when I share my full-page or link in bio form?
When you share your full-page form or link in bio form on social media, in messengers, or in a Slack group, a preview automatically appears.
This preview usually includes:
An image
A title
A short description
By default, Flodesk adds a standard preview. But you can customize it to match your brand and make your link more clickable.
Good news: it only takes a minute.
Before you start
You can only edit link previews for Full-page forms and Link in bio forms.
Inline and popup forms do not have shareable preview links.
How to edit the preview for a new form
Once your form design is finished:
Step 1: Open Settings
Click the Settings button inside your form builder.
Step 2: Click the “Link preview” tab
This is where you control:
Meta image (the preview image)
Meta title
Meta description
Step 3: Upload a preview image
Click Upload image to add your custom preview image.
This image will appear when your link is shared on:
Facebook
Instagram DMs
LinkedIn
X (Twitter)
iMessage
Slack
And other platforms
Tip: Choose a clear, eye-catching image with minimal text.
Step 4: Edit the title
Update the Title field to match your offer.
Keep it short and specific. For example:
“Free Brand Strategy Guide”
“Join My Weekly Marketing Emails”
Step 5: Add a description
Write a short sentence explaining what people will get.
Example:
“Download the exact checklist I use with my 1:1 clients.”

How to edit the preview for an existing form
Already published your form? No problem.

Hover over the form
Click the three dots (…)
Select Edit link preview
This takes you directly to the Link preview section.
Update the image, title, or description, then save.
Why isn’t my updated preview showing on social media?
If your new preview isn’t appearing right away, don’t worry.
Social platforms cache (store) link previews. That means:
They may still show the old preview
They need time to refresh your metadata
Flodesk does not control this process.
What you can do:
Wait a little while and try again
Use a social debugger tool to force a refresh
You can drop your URL into the Facebook debugger to force it to resync metadata: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
If your meta preview is not displayed correctly on LinkedIn, use this debugger to force it to resync metadata: https://www.linkedin.com/post-inspector/
Best practices for better link previews
Use a high-quality image (clear, simple, branded)
Keep titles short (under 60 characters is ideal)
Keep descriptions concise (1–2 sentences max)
Avoid stuffing too many emojis or ALL CAPS
Think of your preview like a mini ad for your form.
FAQs
Can I edit the preview for inline or popup forms?
No. Only Full-page forms and Link in bio forms have editable share previews because they have public URLs.
What size should my preview image be?
Use a horizontal image with a standard social-sharing ratio (e.g., 1200 x 630 px). This helps prevent awkward cropping.
How long does it take for preview changes to update?
It depends on the platform. Sometimes it updates instantly. Other times it can take several hours. Using a platform’s debugger tool can speed it up.
Why does the old preview still appear in text messages?
Messaging apps also cache previews. Try:
Deleting the message and sending again
Waiting a few minutes
Restarting the app
Can I remove the preview completely?
No. Social platforms automatically generate previews from your link metadata. You can customize it, but not disable it entirely.
Does changing the preview affect my actual form design?
No. The link preview only changes what people see before they click. It does not affect your form layout or content.
If your goal is to increase clicks and conversions, customizing your link preview is one of the easiest quick wins. A strong image and clear headline can make a big difference.
